Notice to foreign job candidates: Beware of fraudsters pretending to provide jobs in countries like Poland, Romania, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Maldives

The Foreign Employment Bureau is making a special notification to Sri Lankans who are looking for jobs in countries like Poland, Romania, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Maldives.  The bureau informs us not to get caught by people who cheat money by claiming that jobs are provided in such countries Due to the current situation in the country, because a large number of people are interested in going for foreign jobs, the complaints received by the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau are increasing day by day regarding fraudsters who get money by posting advertisements on social media and websites. The Bureau further informs the people to find out whether the said organization is a legal entity holding a license from the Bureau before giving passport or money to any person or organization to go for a foreign job.  The public can inquire about the legitimacy of employment agencies by visiting the Bureau’s official website www.slbfe.lk or by calling the Bureau’s 24-hour information center hotline number 1989.

Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka-Food supply to patients in hospitals will also be limited

The All Ceylon Nurses Association states that in addition to the shortage of medicines, getting the daily meals given to patients and health workers in some hospitals has become a big problem. The president of the association said that due to the lack of proper payment to the food suppliers, the supply of raw materials, eggs, meat and fish required for the preparation of food, fruits, soups and porridges to the hospitals is limited. He said that even Colombo National Hospital, which is the largest hospital in Sri Lanka, has this problem and said that in order to cure diseases, patients should be given nutritious food as well as medicine. He further said that the authorities should pay attention to this situation and control the situation by paying the arrears to the suppliers.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left the country to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left for England early this morning to attend the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.  The President, who first left on a flight to Dubai, is scheduled to travel to London, England from there. Ukrainian forces rescued 7 Sri Lankan students detained by the Russian army

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says that his forces freed 7 Sri Lankan students who were detained by the Russian army last March.  He said that these students were taken into the custody of Russian forces in the .arkiv region when the Russian forces invaded Ukraine last March..  The President of Ukraine has also mentioned that they were able to rescue many other civilians including these students who studied at the Kupyansk Medical College. Sri Lankan Dhamma school pledge

Buddhist children in Sri Lanka are attending dhamma school every Sunday morning. Dhamma school is a school, especially for Buddhist children in Sri Lanka. There is a different syllabus and examination system decided by the government for dhamma schools. Children are learning, Buddha teaching, Buddhist culture, pali language and many things related to Buddhism. There is a pledge for the students and the children are saying it every dhamma school day in the morning assembly. Here is the English translation of the pledge; The Dhamma school pledge As a student of Dhamma school, I study tremendous Buddhism with passion by associating with the temple. I observe  Buddhist penances and do Buddhist rituals daily. I worship triple gems and meditate daily. I worship my parents in the morning and evening. I behave with obedience and respect to the Sangha, Elders and teachers.  I help others as much as possible and live in harmony with everyone. I love my motherland, my nationality and my religion by all my life. I will develop my Dhamma knowledge and will not be shaken by the eight vicissitudes of life. PW

A death anniversary of a former LTTE member held in Jaffna Sri Lanka

The 35th death anniversary of Dileepan alias Rasaiya Pardeepan, who is considered to be a former LTTE terror member, was held today (15) near Nallur Temple, Jaffna with the participation of a group of political representatives and a group of people in the area. The celebration of Dileepan’s virtues was started with the participation of a group of political representatives and people in the area who placed a photo of Dileepan at the place where Dileepan’s memorial was located behind the Nallur Temple. During the period of September 15 to 26, various parsavas have made arrangements to hold Dileepan’s celebrations in several places in the north. On September 15, 1987, Dilipan Nohat Rasaiya Partipan started a fast to death behind the Nallur Temple in Jaffna to protest that he would not end his fast until the Indian peacekeeping forces left the country. During that fast, LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaranda came and asked him to stop the fast, but he did not give up the fast and on September 26 he died due to fasting during the fast. A statement from the head of the IMF about the crisis in Sri Lanka

Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, says that it is expected that Japan, India and China, the three main creditor countries in Sri Lanka, will participate in the search for solutions to Sri Lanka’s economic crisis. Queen Elizabeth death-Queen’s guard collapsed and falls on the face to the ground

Foreign media have reported a video showing a person falling in front of Queen Elizabeth’s body.  A member of the security forces who were waiting for the protection of the Queen’s body has fallen. Foreign media have further reported that he collapsed due to fainting. In the meantime, it is further reported that the BBC’s live broadcasting activities were also disrupted by the related incident. Negotiations between Nepal and Sri Lanka

A preliminary discussion has been held regarding reaching a bilateral agreement with Nepal on providing tourism and university education opportunities in Sri Lanka.  The Presidential Media Division stated that the discussions were held with President Ranil Wickramasinghe and Nepalese Ambassador Bashu Dev Mishra.  There, an agreement has been reached to implement a youth exchange program, allowing the youth of the two countries to join for university education and tourism opportunities.
