A funeral corona cluster started in Vavuniya, Public Health Inspectors are searching for associates
The Vavuniya Public Health Inspectorate has identified 28 persons who had attended a funeral at a house in the Pattaipirandakulam area in Olumaduwa, Vavuniya as infected with covid 19. The funeral was held at a house in the village of Pattepirindakulama, Olumaduwa on the 24th and out of the 30 people who attended the funeral, 28 were identified as having Covid infection. Two persons were admitted to the Puliyankulama Hospital in Vavuniya due to a sudden fever at the house where the funeral was held. Later tests identified them as covid infected. Based on the information that was later revealed, antigen tests were carried out on 30 people who were present at the funeral and 28 of them were identified along with the first two. According to the Vavuniya Public Health Inspectors, further investigations are underway to find their associates and quarantine them.

By the end of September, there will be a significant reduction in the number of patients in the country, said Dr Chandima Jeewandara of Jayewardenepura University. Milinda Moragoda assumes duties as High Commissioner to India
Former Minister Milinda Moragoda has assumed duties as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India for 30 days. He was appointed High Commissioner to India about a year ago. His appointment was opposed by several parties.

Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara was summoned by the CID to inquire into a complaint received alleging that he had made false statements regarding the local drug production and anti-corona program and that his lawyers had informed that he was suffering from corona. The special feature of this event was that the Legal Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawega, President’s Counsel Thisath Wijegunawardena came to the CID on behalf of Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara. Dr. Nanda Gunawardena, Director of Research and International Affairs, University of Technology, Sri Lanka, said that they could assist the President in reducing the number of corona deaths and restoring the country within a month. He further said that he would directly inform the President that this could be done by using the mega panraim or Karapitiya corona beans developed by a group including himself. He said this in an interview with a YouTube channel.

Dr. Chandima Jiwandara, Director, Institute of Allergy Immunology Cell Genetics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, says that it is hard to prevent entering the deadly covid virus that is spreading in South Africa to Sri Lanka. He said the deadly virus had entered New Zealand even though no patients were allowed to enter the country. He points out that the closure of a country like Sri Lanka is practically impossible as it is very difficult to prevent the virus from entering the country as the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is active. He further said that although some measures were taken to prevent the arrival of Alpha and Delta strains in the country, those infected with the virus were later reported by society.

A police bike was stolen at the Navagamuwa Police Station
A motorcycle given for duty at the Navagamuwa Police Station has been stolen. The motorcycle had been released for the duties of the Minor Complaints Unit of the police. The motorcycle in question was used by the OIC of the Navagamuwa Police Complaints Division. He had arrived at the police station on 28th by motorcycle and when he’s going to return home from the motorcycle, it had found gone missing. The police are investigating the incident and the camera footage has revealed that the motorcycle was being driven by a young man. But the young man or the motorcycle has not been found so far.
Sri Lanka is going to import chemical pesticides again
The government is focusing on easing the ban on the import of chemical pesticides. The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed to import third and fourth class pesticides registered with the Office of the Registrar of Pesticides and classified as hazardous by the World Health Organization, subject to a decision of the Department of Agriculture. The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has submitted a Cabinet Memorandum seeking approval to import the agrochemicals by the Petroleum Corporation or local agencies and store them in the warehouses of the Ceypetco Agrochemical Division and sell them through the Agrarian Service Centers on the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture. It is proposed to issue such agrochemicals under the supervision of an officer appointed by the Director General of Agriculture.
