Legal Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya came to the CID on behalf of Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara.
Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara was summoned by the CID to inquire into a complaint received alleging that he had made false statements regarding the local drug production and anti-corona program and that his lawyers had informed that he was suffering from corona. The special feature of this event was that the Legal Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawega, President’s Counsel Thisath Wijegunawardena came to the CID on behalf of Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara. Although he was called to the CID yesterday, he had requested for 14 days.

Dr. Nanda Gunawardena, Director of Research and International Affairs, University of Technology, Sri Lanka, said that they could assist the President in reducing the number of corona deaths and restoring the country within a month. He further said that he would directly inform the President that this could be done by using the mega panraim or Karapitiya corona beans developed by a group including himself. He said this in an interview with a YouTube channel.

Dr. Chandima Jiwandara, Director, Institute of Allergy Immunology Cell Genetics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, says that it is hard to prevent entering the deadly covid virus that is spreading in South Africa to Sri Lanka. He said the deadly virus had entered New Zealand even though no patients were allowed to enter the country. He points out that the closure of a country like Sri Lanka is practically impossible as it is very difficult to prevent the virus from entering the country as the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is active. He further said that although some measures were taken to prevent the arrival of Alpha and Delta strains in the country, those infected with the virus were later reported by society.

Another 194 corona deaths are confirmed by the Director General of Health. At the same time the number of corona deaths in the country rises to 9185.

A police bike was stolen at the Navagamuwa Police Station
A motorcycle given for duty at the Navagamuwa Police Station has been stolen. The motorcycle had been released for the duties of the Minor Complaints Unit of the police. The motorcycle in question was used by the OIC of the Navagamuwa Police Complaints Division. He had arrived at the police station on 28th by motorcycle and when he’s going to return home from the motorcycle, it had found gone missing. The police are investigating the incident and the camera footage has revealed that the motorcycle was being driven by a young man. But the young man or the motorcycle has not been found so far.
Sri Lanka is going to import chemical pesticides again
The government is focusing on easing the ban on the import of chemical pesticides. The Ministry of Agriculture has proposed to import third and fourth class pesticides registered with the Office of the Registrar of Pesticides and classified as hazardous by the World Health Organization, subject to a decision of the Department of Agriculture. The Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage has submitted a Cabinet Memorandum seeking approval to import the agrochemicals by the Petroleum Corporation or local agencies and store them in the warehouses of the Ceypetco Agrochemical Division and sell them through the Agrarian Service Centers on the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture. It is proposed to issue such agrochemicals under the supervision of an officer appointed by the Director General of Agriculture.

A Request was made for the legalization of cannabis in Sri Lanka
The Social Democratic Party of Sri Lanka (SLFP) calls for the legalization of cannabis for self-immunization. Its secretary Thusitha Balasuriya has made this request in writing to the government and the president. He also said that while using cannabis to boost immunity around the world, it is unfortunate that Sri Lankans are not allowed to use cannabis, which is an ayurvedic as well as a local medicine. He called on the government and the president to legalize cannabis with regulations for adult use. He points out that it is an important and revolutionary decision to be taken for the betterment of the people of this country as well as for the upliftment of indigenous medicine. According to local and foreign researchers, cannabis can be used to control coronavirus, a deadly form of pneumonia. The secretary also reminded that in some states in the United States, cannabis is distributed free of charge to those who have received the corona vaccine.
