Since the weekend, protests have erupted across Sri Lanka against the government’s failure to effectively manage the economy and a shortage of basic necessities.
These demonstrators have demanded that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa step down, as well as his government.
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa offered ministerial seats to all political parties on Monday (4), urging them to work together to resolve the country’s issue.
His suggestion came a day after Wimal Weerawansa, one of his former ministers, proposed forming an all-party interim administration to resolve the problem.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party, one of the key political parties in the current coalition, warned on Sunday (3) that if a caretaker administration is not appointed, all SLFP members will be fired.
