Current Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka has applied for $ 800 million from the International Monetary Fund

Sri Lanka has applied for $ 800 million from the International Monetary Fund. It is reported that this amount has been requested to increase the reserves during the period of August-September.

A Central Bank spokesman said Sri Lanka had to repay $ 1 billion in sovereign bonds this month.

He also said that another $ 1,200 million would be needed to cover the Sri Lankan dollar deficit, along with this fund.
