Prices of milk powder, wheat flour and cement will be increasing

It has been decided to increase the prices of wheat flour, milk powder and cement in the next few days. The approval of the Cost of Living Committee is to be obtained for this. Due to the increase in the world market price of these goods and the increase in the foreign exchange rate of the country, the prices are to be increased according to the ongoing discussions.

MP Geetha Kumarasinghe said that opening liquor stores is like appointing a scientific cabinet. Cabinet approves to give Yugadanav to an American company

  The Cabinet has approved the transfer of shares from the Yugadanav Power Plant in Sri Lanka to a company called New Petros in the United States. The proposal was made by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Ministers Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila have objected to the proposal.  According to the report that the cabinet paper was not included in the agenda of the cabinet meeting that day and that it had not been distributed to the ministers before the cabinet meeting and the relevant ministers had objected to this. It has also been criticized for handing over the project to one party without calling for tenders.  The transfer of 40 percent of the power plant’s treasury shares to an American company will bring Sri Lanka $ 300 million.

A conspiracy against the government in Dubai?

MPs Mano Ganeshan, Kavinda Jayawardena, and Rohana Bandara who went to the prison to inquire into the incident said that the minister who had entered the prison under the influence of alcohol had threatened the prisoners with his pistol. They also said that the pistol loaded with ammunition was not activated at the time andthe prison had rescued prisoners.

CCTV camera systems have not been installed in Welikada and Anuradhapura prisons – Prison headquarters

Prison headquarters say that CCTV camera systems have not been installed in Welikada and Anuradhapura prisons yet. At present the cameras are installed only in the Angunakolapelessa, Kalutara and Boossa prisons. In this context, it has become impossible to use CCTV footage in the investigation into the allegations leveled against Minister of State Lohan Ratwatte. However, they say that every prison has a log book that records the entry of any person into any prison and that the notes can be used for relevant investigations.

It has been proposed to increase the price of a kilo of rice

The Ministry of Consumer Protection and Cooperatives is focusing on revising the control prices currently imposed on rice.  However, Samba and Kiri Samba are considering not to revise the control prices of raw and nadu rice. Accordingly, it has been proposed to increase the price of a kilo of samba from Rs. 103 to Rs. 120 and a kilo of curry samba from Rs. 125 to Rs. 145.

I did not carry a firearm or even mobile phone to any of those prisons- Lohan Ratwatte

Minister of State Lohan Ratwatte has stated that there are 29 prisons and 2 rehabilitation centers throughout the country and that he did not carry a firearm or even his phone to any of those prisons. He also stated that he had never entered any prison under the influence of alcohol. He says that if there are any scenes of him entering the prison, they should be exposed and no one can delete them. He has said that the reports published about him are untrue and that no one is slinging mud at him from behind. He said this while he was speaking to Sirasa Tv.

Two high powered claymore mines were found

Kodikamam Police said that two high powered claymore mines were found in the Kodikamam Kudamian area in Jaffna on the 16th. A resident of the area saw the claymore mine hidden near a palm tree near a temple in the Kudamian area and informed the police. Police found two 10 kg and 15 kg high claymore mines during the search. Kodikamam Police further stated that it is suspected that the two claymore mines may have been taken and hidden by a person at the scene and an extensive investigation is underway.
