Five persons have been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport by the Customs for attempting to smuggle foreign currency in their luggage.
The suspects were arrested following a lengthy investigation by the Narcotics Division of the Sri Lanka Customs.
Customs officers seized $ 95,000, 18,000 euros and 37,000 Saudi riyals. The value of this currency in Sri Lanka is close to 25 million rupees.
The suspects are being investigated by the Sri Lanka Customs and Police.
