The government has decided to postpone the local government elections to be held before next March by another year.

Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils has submitted a Cabinet Memorandum in this regard.

Most of the representatives of the local government bodies where the Sri Lanka People’s Front is unfavourable have pointed out that holding an election in the current situation is unfavorable.
