A kilo of rice will cost Rs. 500- Shashindra Rajapaksa

Earlier the tonne of urea was imported at US $ 278 but today the price of the tonne of urea has gone up to US $ 1282, said Minister of State Shashindra Rajapaksa.

If fertiliser cost at that price to cultivate in paddy, a kilo of rice will exceed Rs. 500, he said.

Today, a 25 kg bundle of urea is being sold in Sri Lanka at a price of over Rs. 9,000.
