New health guidelines issued for visitors arriving Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Health has issued a new set of guidelines for fully domesticated domestic and foreign airlines arriving in the country.

Accordingly, Sri Lankan citizens, sailors and persons with dual citizenship entering the country are not required to obtain the approval of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Civil Aviation Authority, according to a new guideline issued by the Director General of Health.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement that it was not necessary for any passenger to undergo a PCR test in Sri Lanka if more than two weeks had elapsed since the full vaccination and if he had not been infected with the PCR test results 72 hours prior to his arrival in the country.

The system has been implemented for both Katunayake and Mattala airports since midnight yesterday (28).
