The Consumer Affairs Authority has been decided to test the quality of the coconut oil avsilable in the market.The authority stated that samples from the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts collected and already been sent to laboratories.
Accordingly collection of the samples from other districts commenced and the samples will be sent for the laboratory testing within the next few days.
Also the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) rejected the media and social media reports claimed that senior officials of the SLSI had authorized the sale of unhealthy coconut oil imported to the country by four importers.
And they also named the importers as Ali Brothers Put Ltd, Sena Mills Refineries, Edirisinghe Edible Oils and Katana Refineries are and also SLSI explained their samples are under test for and results will be released within a few days about the quality of the oil
Also the State Minister Arundika Fernando states that cooking oil that was reported cancerous has not been released to the market and he informed Parliament to take steps to re-export the containers.
