Britain and New Zealand have announced updated travel advisories for their citizens to prevent travel to Sri Lanka except for essential matters.

According to the relevant announcement, Sri Lanka is currently facing a severe economic crisis and there is a severe shortage of essential materials including medicine, gas, fuel and food.

The advisories state that this shortage of essential goods will also affect tourists, so they should refrain from visiting Sri Lanka as much as possible.

They have informed their citizens that the shortage of essential services in Sri Lanka will lead to violent unrest and protests due to daily power cuts.

It is further stated in the notification that roadblocks and protests may be held at very short notice.
