Sri Lanka approves Russia’s Sputnik V

State Minister of Production Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana states that Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine has been approved in Sri Lanka.

Secretary to the State Ministry of Production Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Rohitha Uduwawla confirmed today( March 4) that the Government of Russia has agreed to provide 300000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccines to our country free of charge.

National Medical Regulatory Authority of Sri Lanka has been granted the approval in sri lanka and it has proved 91.6% protection against SARS-CoV-2 in its last stage trial.

Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) states that 39 countries has approved the Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. The first and second doses are slightly different versions of the vaccine from each other.

The vaccine can be stored between 2 and 8C at temperatures and two doses have to taken between 21 days of gap.

According to the scientists this is benificial because the two different formulas in 2 doses can boost the immune system.
