Tamil people can commemorate death of a family member during the war but terrorist commemoration is still prohibited

The Second Interim Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Evaluation of the Decisions of the Pre-Human Rights Commissions and Committees and the Future Action will be presented by Supreme Court Judge A.H.M. Do. Nawaz handed over to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat on the afternoon of the 18th.

 The President on January 21, 2021, appointed Supreme Court Judge Mr A.H.M.D Nawaz to investigate, investigate and report on the findings of commissions or committees appointed to investigate allegations of human rights and other violations of international humanitarian la, or to take appropriate action.

The first report of the Commission was submitted to the President on July 21, 2021.

In preparing the second 107-page report, the Commission made a number of recommendations based on the testimonies of 75 residents of the Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts who had experienced and associated with the war.

The Paranagama Commission appointed in 2015 has immediately investigated the findings and recommended a case or compensation. Those who testified before the Commission requested the assistance of the Government to help them grow economically and have been recommended by the Commission for the same.

They are not allowed for terrorist commemorate but, the commission has al recommended that the right to commemorate the death of a relative during the war privetly be granted , and that the final report be submitted to the President by June next year. Mr. Nawaz said.

Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath was also present at the occasion.
