A statement from the head of the IMF about the crisis in Sri Lanka

Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, says that it is expected that Japan, India and China, the three main creditor countries in Sri Lanka, will participate in the search for solutions to Sri Lanka’s economic crisis.

She mentioned this in an interview with the Center for Global Development about the situation that Sri Lanka is facing today as a country affected by the debt crisis.

“As far as Sri Lanka is concerned, there are three main creditor countries. Japan, India and China. We strongly expect that the participation of those parties will happen soon. Then other parameters have to be taken into consideration including the private sector” she said
