There will be a huge shortage in medecine in the country during next few weeks- The Government Pharmacists Association

The Government Pharmacists Association states that there will be a shortage of medicines in hospitals and health institutions across the country in the next two weeks.

Ajith P Thilakaratne, president of the association, said that there is already a severe shortage of drugs used for cancer, heart, epilepsy and diabetes patients in the country.

They allege that there is a huge delay in the purchase of medicines by the Health Ministry under Indian loan assistance. They also point out that the Ministry of Health does not have a formal program to import medicines.
