The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that it has given a general amnesty to the public for depositing and selling their foreign currency.
The Central Bank mentioned that the Minister of Finance has given this general amnesty to attract the foreign currency held by the people into the banking system.
Accordingly, the general amnesty period will be effective for one month from August 15.
During the relevant period, the public has the opportunity to deposit the foreign currency held in a personal or business foreign currency account as well as to sell it to a licensed commercial bank.
