Political Crisis in Sri Lanka-Sri Lankan government is planning to speed up the regulation on social media

Defence chiefs have suggested that bills be speedily drafted to control behaviour on social media affecting national security and four other bills be amended soon.

They have also pointed out that despite the Ministry of Justice continuously informing about this, it did not happen, and recently the protesters have used social networks to destroy government property.

This was pointed out in the National Security Council which met yesterday under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Since Sri Lanka has the weakest laws in the Asian region, it has been decided to immediately submit them for revision and delegate the power to the Ministry of Justice to implement the revisions.
