The parliamentary poll to elect the 8th Executive President of Sri Lanka will be held today.

The 225 members of parliament are going to vote for this.

After the resignation of Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa from his position, a successor president is to be chosen today to rule the country for the remaining period of the vacancy.

Due to this, strict police guards have been deployed around the Parliament and all the entrance roads. It has also been done to ban protests and agitations today.
