The Chinese government has decided to provide a grant of 300 million yuan to Sri Lanka for the supply of medicines, food and other essential items, including fuel.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that China will provide the award as a result of a telephone conversation between the Prime Ministers of the two countries on April 22.
Earlier in the day, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang told Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa that China was aware of the difficulties and challenges facing Sri Lanka.
The Chinese Prime Minister further said that China will do its utmost to improve the livelihoods of the people. Accordingly, the value of the total assistance provided by China to Sri Lanka with this grant is approximately 500 million Yuan, the Prime Minister’s Office announced
