A Stern Warning to American tourists staying in Sri Lanka

The US Embassy in Colombo has issued a stern warning to American tourists staying in Sri Lanka.

 The statement, entitled ‘Economic Instability in Sri Lanka’, reads:

Due to the economic situation in the country, Sri Lanka is currently facing a shortage of fuel and cooking gas as well as certain medicines and essential food items.

With the economic situation, there have been recent protests in the queues at petrol stations, grocery stores and some pharmacies. Some objections have become violent, and in response, police will also be executed and tear gas attacks on tear gas.

 There are daily planned power outages as well as unplanned power outages throughout the island due to increasing fuel shortages for generators. Public transportation is sometimes restricted or restricted.

Tourists should keep an eye on the local media for updates on the status quo.

Actions to take:
Avoid areas where there are parades or demonstrations.
Be careful if there are unexpectedly large meetings or protests.
