The first Central Asian Beach Volleyball Tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation to mark the 75th Independence Day next year begins today at the Negombo Beach Park Beach.
The Federation is planning to hold several volleyball and beach volleyball tournaments to commemorate Independence, the first of which will be this event.
It is held under the auspices of the Asian Volleyball Federation and the Central Asian Volleyball Federation.
Iran, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka will take part in the tournament, which will be held in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
The inaugural ceremony of the tournament will be held at 8.00 am under the patronage of Minister of State Kanchana Jayaratne, President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation.
The tournament ends next Sunday.
