Permission to import 500 buses from India

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has been approved by the Cabinet to purchase 500 new 32-seater buses under the Indian Loan Scheme.

It was approved on January 8, 2020 and bids have been invited from three pre-qualified companies to purchase the buses.

Accordingly, the recommendation made by the Standing Committee on Procurement appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers to proceed with the procurement of these buses to be awarded to Ashok Leyland Company of India.

The proposal made by Hon. Minister of Transport, to proceed with the relevant activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
