Indian devotees killed in stampede

Jammu and Kashmir: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences over the death of a number of worshipers at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.

Posting a note on his Twitter account, the Indian Prime Minister said that he was saddened by the incident and would take it seriously.

Twelve devotees were killed and 14 others were injured in a stampede at the shrine.

All the injured are being treated at the hospital and some of them are said to be in critical condition.

Authorities suspect that a large number of worshipers arrived at the shrine on New Year’s Eve.
