By 2021, 120,000 people went abroad for work

 By the end of December 2021, about 120,000 people had registered for foreign employment, according to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.

Accordingly, 30,000 workers are registered for employment in Qatar, 27,000 for Saudi Arabia and about 20,000 for employment in the United Arab Emirates.

 About 1,400 jobs have been registered in South Korea, 1,100 in Singapore, 1,600 in Cyprus and 800 in Japan, the agency said.

In the year 2022, a number of plans are expected to be implemented for the promotion of the foreign employment sector.
