This is an end as well as a beginning – Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka while visiting Adam’s Bridge

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Xi Zheng hong concluded his three-day official visit to the North on the evening of the 17th with a special visit to Point Pedro, Japan and the Adam’s Bridge in Mannar.

After meeting the Jaffna fishing community and government officials, the visit ended at the Point Pedro in Jaffna.

The Chinese Ambassador and his delegation also observed the seas off Point Pedro using drone cameras, where the Chinese Ambassador inquired about the distance from the tip to India. It is reported that the officials who were there later informed that India is located about 30 km away.

The Chinese Ambassador and his entourage then concluded their visit to Jaffna with the Chinese Ambassador giving Particular attention to the Adam’s Bridge between Mannar and India.

Later, the Chinese Ambassador and his delegation arrived at the Naval Drift Camp and from there several Navy vessels patrolled Adam’s Bridge.

Gao Bing, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, and Lu O Chung, Chief Political Officer will also be present at the event. After travelling 17 nautical miles in the Mannar Sea, the Chinese Ambassador and his entourage observed the Adam’s Bridge.

his entourage spent about twenty minutes observing Adam’s Bridge Before returning to the naval base, the Chinese ambassador boarded his official car, commenting to the media, saying that this was the end as well as the beginning.

The dune about 30 km from Talaimannar to Dhanushkodi in India is also known as Adam’s Bridge and is also known as Ram Setu by the Indians.

 It has 16 small dunes, 8 of which belong to Sri Lanka and the rest to India. Meanwhile, in March, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopala Bagli and a group of people visited Adam’s Bridge and performed religious rites on one of the dunes.

In such a situation the Chinese Ambassador inspecting Point Pedro in Jaffna and Adam’s Bridge in Mannar is a special event.

The police, navy and army have provided special security for the Chinese ambassador’s visit to the North.
