Sri Lankan government accelerates research into the presence of omicron in Sri Lanka

It is reported that the research work being carried out in Sri Lanka to identify the Omicron Covid variety has been accelerated.

Experts say that the “genetic analysis” method is used for this.

 Accordingly, arrangements have been made to expedite the testing of samples of foreigners and Sri Lankans visiting the country.

The Division of Epidemiology states that the genetic analysis is being carried out at the Institute of Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology and Medical Research Institute of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Meanwhile, with the identification of 747 new Kovid infections yesterday (29), the total number of covid infections reported in the country has increased to 563,267.
