Cement shortage in the market?

Cement companies say the shortage of cement in the market will continue for another month.

They point out that a special program has been launched with the government to import the required cement to the market.

Cement companies say that there is a shortage of around 200,000 metric tons of cement in the market at present and steps are being taken to overcome it.

Meanwhile, it is reported that it has been decided to sell a 50 kg bag of locally produced cement at a price of Rs. 1,275.

Previously a bag of cement was sold at Rs. 1098 and this new price has been revised due to the increase in production cost.

However, due to the active cement mafia in the market, people have to buy cement at various prices, says the National Construction Association of Sri Lanka.
