The Chinese Embassy in Colombo has stated that it does not know anything about the ship of a Chinese company carrying a consignment of organic fertilizer that had arrived at the Port of Colombo.

The embassy has stated that the purchase of the fertilizer is a business venture and that the embassy has no involvement in it.

They said this when media questioned about the ship carrying 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer that had returned to Sri Lanka after it was revealed that it contained harmful organic matter.
