Wahhabi Muslims are planning to attacks on Sufi Muslims celebrating Prophet’s Day in Sri Lanka

Here is a letter sent to the IGP by the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena Organization Ven. Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thero.

Inspector-General of Police,
Police Headquarters,
Colombo.

Concerning the attacks carried out by the Wahhabis targeting the Sufi Muslim community celebrating the Prophet’s birthday.

Wahhabi groups have been seen carrying out various acts of sabotage against celebrations for the Prophet’s birthday organized by the Sufi Muslim community in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, scoldings and threats have been reported over the past few weeks At its height, Wahabis reportedly stabbed several Sufi worshipers who were reciting the “Subhanu Mawlut” at the Ambalam Mohadeen Mosque on Mannar Road in Puttalam.

The Wahhabis refuse to worship the Prophet, who is mentioned in Islam as the Messenger of Allah and their view is that only Allah god alone is worthy of worship.

However, the Sufi Muslim community in this country celebrates the Prophet’s birthday and other occasions, so they are constantly being targeted by Wahhabis.

Therefore, I urge you to take the necessary steps to ensure the security of the Sufi Muslim community in Sri Lanka, which celebrates the Prophet’s birthday this month.

Bless the Triple Gem.
Royal Panditha Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero.
Secretary-General
Bodu Bala Sena
