Prasad Milinda, a Member of the Sri Lanka People’s Front representing the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha has assaulted his mother and father.
The parents who were injured in the attack are being treated at the hospital and the mother has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The dispute stems from a long-running land dispute in which a paddy field has been attacked for not registering its name.
Police say that investigations have been launched to arrest the MP.
