UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet says the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is closely monitoring Sri Lanka’s implementation of the state of emergency on August 30 in relation to food security and price control.

She was speaking at the opening of the 48th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

She also spoke about some of the recent controversies in Sri Lanka. Failure to pursue the case against former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda alleging that 11 youths were abducted, Presidential pardon for Duminda Silva a former Member of Parliament, and Death toll in police custody.
