Dr. Chandima Jiwandara, Director, Institute of Allergy Immunology Cell Genetics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, says that it is hard to prevent entering the deadly covid virus that is spreading in South Africa to Sri Lanka.
He said the deadly virus had entered New Zealand even though no patients were allowed to enter the country.
He points out that the closure of a country like Sri Lanka is practically impossible as it is very difficult to prevent the virus from entering the country as the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is active.
He further said that although some measures were taken to prevent the arrival of Alpha and Delta strains in the country, those infected with the virus were later reported by society.
