A Sri Lankan athlete has won gold medal at the Paralympic Games

A Sri Lankan athlete has set a new world record at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Dinesh Priyantha Herath, who represented Sri Lanka, set a new world record in the javelin throw event and won the gold medal in that event.

His javelin throw distance in the AF46 event was 67.79 meters.

This is the first gold medal won by Sri Lanka in the history of the Paralympics.
