Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal says that all the people should work together to shorten the lockdown period in the country.

He said that it was as important to the people as it was to the country’s economy development and that the country would not be able to move forward if the closure was not shortened now.

He further noted that the loss to macroeconomic factors as well as the lives of the people due to the lockdown of the country is not insignificant.

He points out that if the country’s income is lost due to the closure of the country, the debt cannot be repaid on time and , he questions although it is easy for those who earn a monthly salary and have money in bank deposits to face the lockdown the country how the four and a half million people who make a living on a daily basis face this lock down.

He said this while he was speaking at a media briefing in Colombo.
