The daily number of global covid deaths is as low as 1.4 percent compared to the daily global covid infections.
But in Sri Lanka that figure as high as 5 percent is a good indication of the severity of the epidemic.
On August 11 and 12, covid deaths were as high as 5 percent compared to those infected.
According to the August 6 report, the death toll on that day was 3.5 percent. This shows a gradual increase of 3.3, 3.7, 3.9 and 4.2 respectively.
In the last 10 days alone, 1,130 covid deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka. It is a serious condition that accounts for one-fifth of all covid deaths.
