The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) says that the number of patients with corona infection in Sri Lanka exceeds 5,000 per day and the number of deaths from hospitals is more than 250.
Its assistant secretary, Dr. Naveen de Zoysa, said the number was likely to double in the next few days as the virus spreads rapidly.
He also alleges that his association has come up with a list of priorities for vaccination to reduce this situation, but that it is not being done properly under the influence of outsiders.
He added that complete immunization could reach 45% of the population and reduce the number of deaths if vaccinations were carried out in the correct manner.
