Strict travel restrictions should be imposed as soon as possible – Dr Padma Gunaratne

According to the Sri Lanka Medical Association, the delta strain of the coronavirus has started spreading in Sri Lanka these days.

Its chairperson, Dr Padma Gunaratne, points out that the delta variant spreading rapidly
in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara.

She also points out that it would be very difficult to control this as a country if travel restrictions were not strictly imposed on this situation.

She also stressed that travel restrictions must be imposed at this time.

Commenting on this, Dr. Hemantha Herath, Media Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said that the decision will have to be taken as it is if the current situation cannot be reviewed and balanced.
