Court order on Ishalini’s body

The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate ordered the police to exhume Ishalini’s body and take it to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for a second post mortem under the supervision of a medical board by quarantine instructions.

The girl had died at the Colombo National Hospital recently due to burning injuries sustained while working as a servant in the house of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

Nuwara Eliya Magistrate Lushaka Kumari Dharmakirthi today (29) ordered the police to exhume the body tomorrow and act as instructed by the court.

Hansa Abeyratne, Attorney-at-Law, stated
in a ‘B’ report on the order issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to exhume the body of the deceased girl and testify before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court today (29) as the body is buried in the public cemetery in the western part of Dayagama, the exhumation should be done under the supervision of the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate.
