Government going to import dried pieces of coconut

The government has decided to import dried coconuts to Sri Lanka only for 3 months.
The dried coconuts are imported only for the production of coconut oil ,the Ministry of Plantation Industries stated.

Considering the risk of dammaging the local companies and the collapse of exports local coconut oil companies had decided to import 13500 metric tons per month only for three months.

The Ministry points out that there is a lack of sufficient coconut harvest for coconut oil production in Sri lanka.
