Sri Lankan deported from UAE for promoting extremism arrested by TID

The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) took two suspects including a 44-year old man from Mawanella who was deported from UAE into the custody for promoting extremism, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The arrested suspect had been deported from the UAE on 05th of December last year due to raising funds in the UAE to promote extremism. Suspects laptop was confiscated and investigations had found that he was promoting radicalism in Sri Lanka.

Suspect was detained under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and a 27-year old suspect was arrested from the Batticaloa Police and taken in to the custody under TID.
