Two fishermen that were swept away to the Indian waters rescued

In response to a request of Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Sri Lanka Navy pressed into action to locate the dinghy that had gone missing on February 23.

Sri Lanka Navy rescue two fishermens along with the dinghy with the facilitation of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Navy Headquarters today 27 of February.

Sri Lanka Navy commenced a special search and rescue operation in the area where the missing dinghy was said to be located. They also get the support by Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Chennai.

Then the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Chennai informed to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in colombo that Indian Coast Guard ship had spotted the missing dinghy in the indian water. It has drifted beyond the International Maritime Boundary Line .
The dinghy which had a technical issue and the two fishermens were assisted to the IMBL. Then Sri Lanka Naval Ship Suranimala towed it safely to the shoreward

All the rescue operation was carried out with strict health and safety guidelines in due to COVID-19 safety restrictions.
