Actor Paul Ritter was played dad Martin Goodman character the popular comedy Friday Night Dinner Channel 4 has died at the age of 54. He was suffering from a brain tumour since few years. Some of the characters he had acted include Sky drama Chernobyl, Eldred Worple in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and also in James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Many co stars had announced their sadness of lossing such a great actor. The producers of Friday Night Dinner, said: “He was a brilliant, kind and talented man much loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know and work with him, and Paul will forever be part of both the Big Talk and Friday Night Dinner families. “Our thoughts are with his own family at this time and following their wishes we will be making a donation to the Old Vic Impact Fund.”BBC
Australians and New Zealand residents can quarantine-free travel between two countries
Australian and New Zealand residents will be able to travel between the two without undergoing a quarantine period from April 19, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern sateted yesterday. Under this decision New Zealand residents allowed to enter most of Australian states without undergoing a quarantine but this decision had not been reciprocated. Two country’s border had been open to New Zealanders after it was close for six months. already. Australia has recorded 909 deaths since the pandemic began and New Zealand has only 25 deaths recorded.
North Korea will not take part in the Tokyo Olympics
North Korea has announced that the country will not take part in the Tokyo Olympics this year. They are hoping to protect their athletes from COVID 19 with the decision. Some experts assume inadequate of south Koreas health system to dealing with the Covid pandemic out break is the reason behind the decision. This years Olympic is going to start July 23 this year this announcement made North Korea the first major country to skip the delayed 2020 Games because of the pandemic. But this decision makes down the South Korea’s hopes of using the Games to engage cross-border talks with the North. Government going to import dried pieces of coconut
The government has decided to import dried coconuts to Sri Lanka only for 3 months.The dried coconuts are imported only for the production of coconut oil ,the Ministry of Plantation Industries stated. Considering the risk of dammaging the local companies and the collapse of exports local coconut oil companies had decided to import 13500 metric tons per month only for three months. The Ministry points out that there is a lack of sufficient coconut harvest for coconut oil production in Sri lanka.
Indian vandalised Buddha Statue died in prison
An Indian national who was remanded in for vandalising Buddha Statues has died in the prison today morning,Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said He was remanded in the Wariyapola Prison and he died after being admitted to the Wariyapola Hospital. The Kuliyapitiya Police arrested the suspect last month for damaging heads of some statues of Buddha in Rathmalewatta area. He was residing in Sri lanka since 16 years after marring a Sri lankan women.
GMOA logged a complaint against SLS Director-General Siddhika Senaratne’s statement
Sri Lanka Standard Institute’s Director-General Siddhika Senaratne made an statement claiming that she was aware of t certain food items sold in the market contain substance unfit for human consumption. Government banned importing palm oil
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had instructed to completely ban the importing palm oil,Presidential Media Unit said. The Controller of Imports and Exports instructed to issue the relevant gazette notification on yesterday by the Secretary to the President. Also,the Director General of Customs has been instructed to suspend the issuance of imported palm oil and instructions given to ban the cultivation of thorny coconuts completely.

Special transport service designed for Sinhala and Tamil year for employees in investment promotion zones.
Special transport service launched for the upcoming festive season to employees in investment promotion zones, the National Transport Commission (NTC) said. Buses would be dispatched from nearby locations where the employees working areas without coming to Colombo, Nilan Miranda,Director General of the National Transport said to the media. The National Transport Commission (NTC) had deployed around 3,500 buses for the convenipeople traveling to rural areas for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year and also the Ceylon Transport Board says that another 200 buses will be added to the service in addition to the daily buses. Apart from that, the Railway Department schedules special trains to Badulla, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Beliatta and other destinations from the 9th of April for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
No politics behind Wennappuwa ASP transfer : Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera
