TID arrests two suspects for brainwashing O/L students with extremism

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the spread of extremism in Oluvil, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He further added that they were arrested for lecturing students who sat for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination recently. The suspects detified as followers of Easter Sunday attack lynchpin Zahran Hashim.

The two suspects were age 30 and 39 had conducted brainwash lessons in 2018 in Oluvil area.

He further explained that they had used video footages and lecturers from various terrorist and radical organizations that are based in foreign countries, especially they use those that promote extremism and terrorism

The students have been instructed to follow physical fitness training during the classes and even some of them were physically harassed after they disagree to attend the physical training, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
