A stock of Carcinogenic lentils found in Weligama
A expired dhal stock found in the Weligama Multipurpose Co-operative Society contained alpha toxin carcinogens, Weligama Chief Public Health Inspector MMH Nihal said. He stated this after the forensic reports revealed about the stock. A search was conducted over a complaint received from a customer following the sale of expired yoghurt and they had found about 3,150 kilos of expired dhal hidden in the Weligama Multipurpose Co-operative Society.
Train derails inside a tunnel in Taiwan
It is reported that around 34 people have died in after a train derailed insid a tunnel in Taiwan.Train was carrying around 350 passengers when the incident happened. Taiwan’s Central Emergency Operation centre reported, because four carriages inside the tunnel that are badly damaged rescuers are struggling to access the targeted points. More than 72 people were found injured and Emergency rescue mechanisms have been put in place for the sick and injured. Rescuing those trapped is the highest priority now as unaffected carriages walking along train tracks with their belongings. This happened at the beginning of annual Tomb Sweeping festival in Taiwan which is a typically high traffic period.
State Minister Arundika Fernando admitted that he had requested to transfer ASP Eric Perera
State Minister Arundika Fernando confirmed that he had sent a letter to Minister of Public Security Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera in December 2020 to transfer Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Eric Perera. He was attached to Wennappuwa police station. State Minister further explained why he had sent the letter of requesting to the transfer as various allegations raised by the public about the Some actions of the ASP. “ASP Perera is a resident of Wennappuwa and should be transferred because according to the law, a Police officer cannot work in a station in which he is a resident of. Suspicious coconut oilcontainer seized; Dambulla : None of the coconut oil samples are carcinogenic – Coconut Development Authority Dambulla police had seized a container suspected to be containing contaminated coconut oil unfit for human consumption, police spokesman said.The container of coconut oil was taken into the police custody. Also, The Coconut Development Authority reported that none of the oile samples submitted to them for testing contained the carcinogenic Alfatoxin. Piyasena Edirimanne Director of Coconut Development Authority said that Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had handed over 50 samples of packaged coconut oil currently on sale in the market to its authority for testing and this reported after a proper laboratory testing.

Three women were died and a man was injured collision between a container and a three-wheeler in NuwaraEliya today (April 1) The lorry was coming from behind crashed and toppled on three wheeler NuwaraEliya Welimada main road. The three wheeler was going towards Welimada and the lorry too was heading towards the same direction crashed on to the threewheeler from behind as a result of the driver of the container not being able to control the vehicle, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The driver of the threewheeler was severely injured and admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.
