Writer of the “Oshin drama died” ; Sugako Hashida

Sugako Hashida the writer who wrote the Oshin drama had died few days ago and She was ninety-five years old when she died. It is amazing that she had died April 4, 2021 in the day which the 38th anniversary of the airing of the first Oshin episode. Oshin was produced by NHK Japan and It was Presented to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation with the sponsorship of the Japan Foundation.The story line reflects a mother’s humanity, compassion, self-sacrifice, courage and unconditional love for her child. In 1973, she wrote her first teleplay. Its name is Ai to Shi o Mitsumete and Oshin was written during the period 1983-84. The background to writing this series is provided by some unknown letter that the author recieved. The letters were written by a woman in the Meiji era.

Coconut oil seized in Dankotuwa also contains carcinogenic aflatoxins

The two coconut oil browsers seized in Dankotuwa recently contained carcinogenic Alfatoxins, the Customs Department stated. Nearly 27,500 litres of coconut oil were seized in the two browser on 30thMarch and samples obtained from the coconut oil confirm the presence of aflatoxins, the Spokesman to the Customs Department said The Sri Lanka standards Institute (SLSI) conducting tests on coconut oil released to the local market and tests were conducted after allegations were raised for coconut oil with carcinogenic coconut oil being released to the local market.

South Asia’s first Disneyland will built in Bopita Leisure Park

Value of the Sri lankan rupee reduced against US dollar

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that the Sri Lankan Rupee further depreciated against the US Dollar as the selling rate of US dollar at Rs. 203.50 today (April 9) The buying rate of the US Dollar was at Rs. 199.21.The Rupee face depreciation since March 2021.

Mrs. World;Caroline Jurie and Chula released on Police bail

Mrs. World 2020 Caroline Jurie and former model Chula Padmendra have been released on Police bail, after they were taken into custody earlier today. The two women were arrested over the controversial incident that took place at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for World Pageant held in Colombo on Sunday (04). The Cinnamon Gardens Police said Jurie and Padmendra were arrested after they arrived at the Police station to record statements over the incident. Jurie had uncrowned Pushpika Silva who was announced as the winner, over allegations that she was divorced and cannot contest the event. Chula Padmendra had supported Jurie’s actions at the event. Pushpika had later initiated legal action against the two women, after announcing that she was not a divorcee. TID arrests two suspects for brainwashing O/L students with extremism

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the spread of extremism in Oluvil, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. He further added that they were arrested for lecturing students who sat for the GCE Ordinary Level Examination recently. The suspects detified as followers of Easter Sunday attack lynchpin Zahran Hashim. The two suspects were age 30 and 39 had conducted brainwash lessons in 2018 in Oluvil area. He further explained that they had used video footages and lecturers from various terrorist and radical organizations that are based in foreign countries, especially they use those that promote extremism and terrorism The students have been instructed to follow physical fitness training during the classes and even some of them were physically harassed after they disagree to attend the physical training, Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
