The body of a 12-year-old girl who went missing in the Udayarkattu Munkilaru area in the Puthukudiirippu police division in Mullaitivu has been found in a jungle area, police said.

 The girl’s relatives had informed the Puthukudiirippu Police that a girl residing in the 200 houses area in Munkilaru North had been missing since the evening of the 15th.

 Meanwhile, a resident of the Munkilaru area had informed the police yesterday when he saw the body of a girl while going to the jungle.

The Puthukudiirippu police who went to the scene later found the body of the missing girl. The body was found in a densely forested area about 200 meters from the girl’s residence.

The cause of death of the girl has not been revealed yet The body has been deposited at the Mullaitivu Manchola Hospital morgue for postmortem examination.

The deceased has been identified as Yogarasa Nidarshana, a 12-year-old resident of 200 Munkilaru Niwasa area, Puthukudiirippu Police said.
