Chinese organic Fertilisers again failed the quality test in Sri Lanka

With the suspension of chemical fertilizers, samples of organic fertilizers to be imported from China for use in Sri Lanka have once again failed tests in Sri Lanka.

This is the second time that the fertilizer has failed the test by the National Plant Quarantine Unit of the Department of Agriculture.

Director, National Plant Quarantine Service Mr Wickramarachchi has informed the Department of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture yesterday about the fact.

According to the tests carried out on the fertilizers, they have not been sterilized and there are micro-organisms, he said.

Accordingly, the Director General of the Department of Agriculture stated that the fertilizer is not in a suitable condition to be imported into the country and will not be imported.
