A large number of people qued in front of liquor shops.

After the removal of the travel restriction law (June 21) at 4 am, shop owners took action to open shops in all the plantation towns including Hatton.

With the removal of the travel restrictions, the Hatton Excise officials verbally instructed the liquor store owners to remove the seals on the closed liquor stores and to operate by the store’s health instructions.

With the reopening of closed liquor stores in Hatton, media reported a large number of people coming to buy liquor.

Although several SLTB and private buses have been added to the service after removing the travel restrictions, there has not been a significant increase in the number of buses coming to cities.

All plantation towns, including Hatton, were heavily guarded by police.
