A change in the methodology of reporting covid deaths

The Director-General of Health Services, Specialist Dr Asela Gunawardena says that all future deaths related to covid will be reported on the same day within the last 48 or 24 hours.

Accordingly, the recent deaths that were reported earlier will not be reported under this new methodology.

Earlier, we reported deaths daily, including deaths in recent days, but from today onwards, all deaths related to covid will be reported on the same day as in the last 48 hours. We now have a system in place to report all deaths within 48 to 24 hours on that day, Dr Asela Gunawardena said.
